Yesterday Doc went under the knife to get a better look at his insides and unfortunately, it wasn't good. He has a congenital birth defect to where his anus is too small, which is why he was in constant pain. We had no choice but to take Doc back to the breeders and get a new schnauzer puppy (as hard as it was!)
We now have Elmer, a bouncing, salt and pepper schnauzer boy! Doc is in the hands of the breeder's daughter who is a vet who can give Doc the special care he needs. Doc will always have a special spot in my heart.

Update: Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile, you can blame Doc for that! He is getting so rambunctious but I don't mind; he's still my baby.
Since we got Doc, as most of you may know, he has had bowel issues. He has been to the vet about six times in the month or so we've had him. Right now, he is at the vet waiting for Dr. Lang to check up on his bowels, which, to me seem to be getting normal. We went to see Dr. Lang this afternoon, before I took Doc shopping, and he was on lunch. We went shopping came back and he was still out so the clinic is keeping him until about 2:30-3:00.
The people at Petland can't quit talking about Doc and they all played with him. We had to get him a new collar cause he outgrew the harness already. I got him some tennis balls now that he knows how to catch and some teething stuff to stop his biting!
I'll update you later on his bowel issues.

Update: We thought Doc was better...and he was. We have been pulling hair balls from his anus all week. We think this was the issue all along. Right now my brother is down stairs with him waiting. Poor Doc is whining and crying in pain and I feel so helpless. I don't mind babying him though. I'll keep you all posted.

Update: My poor baby has Gardia. His anal area is so swollen that the vet couldn't get a fecal loop on him and had to try three times! Poor thing. Tests came back negative for Gardia, but the doctor is almost positive that's what my boy has and is treating him for it. Doc is very tired from his first vet visit, but I'm sure he'll be playing again soon!
